Updates and porch light Fundraiser

Hello friends! This is the first time I've had the opportunity to reach out in this way. Our crew has been so active since we banded in November 2020. What started as a small mutual aid project has blossomed into something really special! It is so nice to take a second and reflect on all of the happenings in Robin Hood's Kitchen and share them with you.

As an update, we are cooking about 150 meals a week, 2 times a month in Chatham county, and 2 times a month in Lee county. We are currently cooking for CORA at Angelina's kitchen in PBO. This week we moved our Lee county operations to the Lemon Springs Ruritan. Prior to that, we were cooking in the kitchen at Camelback Brewing Company bimonthly. We had a marvelous time with those folks and look forward to partnering with them for future events! The Ruritan has provided us with an extended time to prep and a large unused space to cook and package in. It has only been a week, but our fearless Lee county Kitchen Director, Sarah Sligh, was able to increase production by better than 1/3 this week, with 200 meals delivered to HAVEN, Chatham Communities in Schools, OMI and Salvation Army. We are thrilled to be able to boost meal production, particularly during this season when our cup runneth over with vegetables!

On that note, we are so excited to do our first harvest in the Sanford community garden this week. Kale and herbs will taken to Angelina's Kitchen for preparation. It is so nice witness the fruits of our labors being converted into meals for the community. We truly have a vision for sustainability, and this is taking it to another level. Our volunteers literally have a hand in all aspects of the foods we are distributing! What a gift!

The Siler City garden will be planted today! We have a small group of local volunteers, combined with a group of teens from El Vinculo Hispano to do the honors. Starts have been generously donated by Heart Song Farm, East Branch Ginger Farms, The Plant Factory and Country Farm and Home. Stay tuned to see how we grow!

In other news, we are excited to host a supper club event at the South Wind Retreat Center in Silk Hope, NC. porch light raleigh is donating their time time and talents to deliver a fantastic 4 course meal showcasing our local farms. Included in this all-star line-up is In Good Heart Farm, Little Way Farm, Haw River Mushrooms, Granite Springs Farm and The Plant Factory. Chef Kelly Burton will be working with Sarah Sligh to make this a meal to remember.

We hope that you can join us for a relaxed evening of healthy hedonism, beautiful views and the joy of supporting this worthy community!

There is so much more! Please come join us-in the garden, in the kitchen, for a meal...

Gratitude in connection,

Robin Hoods
